Mom’s Famous Apple Crisp

This is what Adam will be getting for his birthday dessert on Saturday. Apple crisp or pie is by far his most-requested treat. (He also chose to have Indian Spiced Cauliflower and Potatoes with grilled tilapia and a big green salad for Birthday Dinner, which really impressed me! His vegetable repertoire has expanded greatly over the years we’ve been married.)

Anyway, this particular crisp is THE gold standard of crisps, as far as I’m concerned. This is the one I grew up on and no one has beat it yet!

Mix together and spread in 9×13″ baking dish:

6 cups apple pealed and sliced
1 cup sugar
2 tbsp. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon

Mix together:

1 cups whole wheat flour
2 cups white flour
¾ cup sugar
½ cup brown sugar

Cut in 2 sticks butter and sprinkle over apples.

Bake at 400 degrees for 45 minutes.
