Orange Currant Scones

3 c. flour
3/4 c. sugar
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
2 tsp grated orange peel
1/2 c. butter
3/4 c. currants
3/4 c. buttermilk

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Stir together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and orange peel. Cut in butter. Stir in currants and buttermilk. Knead 10 turns. Shape into a 9″ round and place on greased baking sheet. Bake 40 minutes. Cool and cut into 8 wedges. Alternately, roll out and cut with a biscuit cutter, bake about 15 minutes.
